IT’S 27 years since Rachel Hetherington won her first of two South Pacific Ladies Open Classic, but that hasn’t stopped being involved in the popular 54-hole tournament to be played at Surfers Paradise Golf Club from October 8-10.
As tournament patron, Hetherington is urging women golfers to enter the tournament, which is played in four divisions – Open Classic, Mid Amateur, Senior and Super Senior divisions.
Each division offers prizes galore including gross and nett prizes each day.
Golfers with handicaps up to 16.5 can enter the Open Divisions while the handicap limit for the Mid Amateur (30-54 years) is 24.6, the Senior Divisions (55-64 years) is 27.3 and the Super Senior Division (65 years plus) is 27.3.
But wait, there’s more.
There will be an 18-hole Mixed Foursomes event on Sunday, October 7.
Hetherington told Inside Golf the South Pacific Ladies Classic was one of her favourite events.
For the record, Hetherington and husband Greg (Ritchie) will again line up.
“Greg and I are going for our fourth championship in a row,” she said.
“I would love to gather some of the younger players to organise partners for the mixed foursomes and take the title from us.
“It’s time to pass the baton on.”
The South Pacific Ladies Open Classic is a Golf Australia and Golf Queensland ranked event.
