THE excited chatter among members at Victoria’s Patterson River Golf Club (PRGC) continues to grow as they settle into the club’s newly renovated 19th hole.

PRGC membership and operations manager Jessica Gagliardi said the club’s directors had identified that the previous bistro was a little tired.

So, after consultation with its membership base, the club decided a facelift would inject new life into the clubhouse facilities.

The renovation sub-committee carried out due diligence and started planning during the 2020 Covid lockdowns. Work started in May this year and the facility reopened on July 1.

Patterson River Golf Club’s newly renovated Spike Bar is a winner.

“As we are a true members club, we made sure that as many members as possible were involved in the project as we love to engage members at every opportunity we can,” Ms Gagliardi said. “This is a way of giving back rather than outsourcing to non-members.

“The club’s main objective is to retain members and grow its participation. “We believe offering a modern and energetic place to dine will do that. The golf club has more than 1120 members plus a pool of more than 1000 local community residents who attend the club’s extensive social events list.

“The club is confident that this new renovation will entice many of these locals to make the Spike Bar their weekly dine in experience.”

President Paul Housiaux said he was proud to be part of a progressive club that was focused on improving its services for its members and local community.

“We are excited to announce, alongside our reopening, our brand-new head chef Chandeth Thong,” he said.

“Chan’s food continues to receive nothing but the best feedback and his speciality curries continue to be a crowd favourite.

“We welcome the public to come and visit our Spike Bar for a meal and drink.

“We are open for lunch seven days a week, breakfast on the weekends and dinner on Thursday and Friday nights and also Wednesday nights during daylights savings.

“In the warm weather take advantage of the large outdoor terrace or balcony overlooking the golf course.”
