THOUGH it’s not officially open – with no hint of an announcement about a re-opening date in sight – golf is again being played at Pelican Waters.

The first and final rounds of the Grant Field Junior Classic were played over Pelican Waters’ new 18-hole layout in January, with some observers pleasantly surprised at the quality of a course which has undergone significant renovations over the past 18 months.

And last month a trio of golfers, whose opinions really count, tested the course.

Former US Masters champ Adam Scott joined his long-time mate Wade Ormsby and last year’s Australian PGA champion Jed Morgan for a quick round of the new course – and gave it the thumbs up.

Scott is on his way back to the US to resume his career on the PGA Tour, while Morgan and Ormsby were preparing for LIV Tour resumes at Mayakoba at the end of February.

Pelican Waters, a Greg Norman-designed course that opened in 2001, has been closed for more than a year because of the redevelopment of the course and clubhouse as part of the establishment of the Palm Lakes Resort over 50s community.
