Restrictions: The Sands Torquay is a combination of members and public. Weekends are subject to availability, but midweek green fee play is permitted.
Golf carts: $45 – 18 holes non-member; $15 members – 18 holes.
Hire equipment: Yes (premium Taylormade sets).
Practice facilities: 300m driving range, 18 bays, chipping and putting green.
The one shot you need: The stinger. If you know the surf coast you will understand it is always windy and you need to hit the ball low.
Toughest holes and why: The 416-metre par-4 11th hole. It’s uphill and surrounded by bunkers.
Best chance for a birdie: The 455-metre par-5 ninth hole. Get a good drive away and this because a great chance at birdie.
Ammunition quota: Make your score on the front nine holes because when you hit the back nine holes 11 to 15 are the toughest.
Don’t leave home without it: A wind jacket.

Clubhouse facilities: The resort was recently renovated in 2020 and opened “Shirley’s Bar”. This is the resorts main facilities but also offers breakfast in the spike bar and on occasions opens up “Bunkers” for members functions. 112 luxury rooms, swimming pool and health club are also on offer.

Pro shop offers: The pro shop is well stocked from accessories, clothing, clubs, balls, and club repairs.
