Links at Kennedy Bay.
IN a WA-first, Links Kennedy Bay (LKB), managed by Clublinks Management, has bucked the trend by introducing electric scooters, adding to an already unique golfing experience.
In offering an alternative to traditional golf carts, the 20 new and environmentally friendly scooters provide golfers with a different and enjoyable way to navigate the Port Kennedy course.
Imported by Golf Chariots, the scooters have enough battery to last 18-holes and come with a single leather seat, a basket to hold a medium-sized esky, and a stand to securely carry a large golf bag.
The electric scooters were introduced in August and have been well received by regular golfers and first-time visitors, with uptake from females and younger players being particularly high. Golfers can rent a scooter for less than the cost of a traditional golf cart and can get around 18-holes of golf up to an hour quicker.
Links Kennedy Bay General Manager Jonathan Kunz said that they have been making significant improvements to the overall customer experience to better appeal to females and younger golfers.
The Links at Kennedy Bay has introduced electric scooters, adding to its unique golfing experience.
“The introduction of the electric scooters is part of our longer-term strategy to diversify our membership base by being a more progressive and innovative club,” Kunz said.
“Two years ago, we had only two female members and two juniors. We now have 32 female members and 19 juniors. Part of how we’ve grown our junior members is by offering free memberships and weekly clinics during school term.”
Being a links golf course, LKB offers a unique challenge due to the natural undulating landscapes, high coastal winds and many pot bunkers.
“We’re building a more diverse and welcoming golfing experience that can’t be found anywhere else. We will continue to innovate and look for exciting new ways to enhance the experience for our golfers and the local community.” Kunz added.
Members and non-members can play 9-holes of golf at LKB with an electric scooter for $20, or $30 for 18-holes.
