Sanctuary Cove Golf and Country Club has partnered with the PGA of Australia and Mulpha to host the inaugural Australian WPGA Championship from March 6-9.
This event will form part of the Ladies European Tour with the winner being awarded the first Karrie Webb Cup. The tournament forms a central element of the Gold Coast Festival of Golf, which is a new joint initiative by the PGA of Australia, Mulpha Australia, Tourism & Events Queensland (TEQ), and Experience Gold Coast (EGC).
The Gold Coast Festival of Golf promises to be an unparalleled celebration of the sport, held at Sanctuary Cove’s vibrant Marina Village. This family-friendly event will showcase golf as the main attraction while highlighting women’s sports in an engaging and interactive setting.
Catering to both avid golfers and newcomers, the festival will draw key figures from the golf industry and offer a variety of attractions. These include a dedicated entertainment and dining precinct with live music, pop-up bars, a Kids’ Zone, hands-on activities, and displays featuring golf and lifestyle innovations.
The tournament will be held on The Palms golf course from Thursday, March 6, to Sunday, March 9, a championship golf course rivalling some of the best golf courses in the country and now ranked in the Top 100 golf courses by a national Australian golfing publication.
Since 2024, The Palms golf course has been undergoing various augmentations thanks to the enhancement plan designed by Crafter + Mogford Golf Course Architecture. These advancements complement the course’s natural challenges, with numerous water hazards, deep bunkers, and large, undulating greens with a meandering layout.
The Australian WPGA Championship will be the first major women’s golf event held in Queensland since the Australian Ladies Masters, which saw its conclusion in 2016.
