HELLO golfers! In ‘We tried it’ we take a look at the newest range of Srixon drivers, fairway woods and hybrids. The latest gear from Srixon has been nothing short of brilliant so I was pumped to try it!

Starting with the Driver, Srixon have three models, with the ZXi LS, the one I tested. From first glance I loved the matte black top followed by what looked like a huge sweet spot with the grey lines across the face. The shape to the head was rounded but didn’t look like I was swinging a fry pan!

Having a look through the technology in the face, this driver head has been designed for players who want a strong, low-spin ball flight, the ZXi LS focusing on delivering long, penetrating shots. You can even tweak the trajectory and spin to your preference. I mentioned above the Srixon ZXi LS sweet spot looks huge because of the lines across the face but the face laser milling across the face offers better grip and spin control—even in wet conditions. This ensures consistent, stable distance every time. One of the things that is most exciting about this driver head is the i-Flex Technology, which improves face flex and energy transfer for even faster ball speeds. With a unique design that makes the heel and toe thicker, and the centre the thinnest in Srixon history, you’ll experience maximum flex and no wasted energy, transforming your swing into serious speed.

In exploring the performance. I should disclose the shaft I was testing was a little softer than I currently play but none the less I still loved testing it and loved this club, from the way it sat on the ground and to the aesthetics of the club – it just looked great.

The good shots were good and the miss hits were great. The new Srixon driver is a real winner and must be a consideration when it comes to getting a new driver

Now for the fairway woods and I tested the ZXi 5wood and absolutely loved it. Lately I’ve been chopping and changing between a 5-wood and a utility club and have maybe found a club I can stick to, with this club for me, testing really well!

Like in the driver technology i-FLEX FACE is throughout the face. The use of rebound frame is terrific because they have been able to utilise the two flex zones, instead of just one. Rebound Frame maximizes flex across the face to increase power, ball speed, and, ultimately, shot distance. Something I believe to be new in the Srixon Fairway wood range is the adjustable hosel. An all-new, 1.5-degree hosel sleeve lets you fine-tune every loft, lie and face angle of the ZXi Fairway Woods. The 3-Wood and 3+-Wood use a strong but lightweight carbon crown, positioning mass low and maximizing COR. Their stepped crown design lowers the centre of gravity, ultimately raising launch trajectory for higher, longer shots. However, the 5-Wood and 7-Wood do not include a stepped crown, prioritizing improved spin and accuracy numbers rather than distance. The new refined tour shaping feature leading edge shape changes for a flatter, more grounded look on the toe side, stepless crowns (on most models) for deeper mass positioning within each clubhead, and an improved sole shape for increased forgiveness.

This means better shots for us golfers, with this club so easy to use and the ability to flight the ball a little higher or a little lower was seamless. Something we know about playing golf in Victoria is that we get long par fours and long par threes so having a club that can penetrate through the wind, whilst being able to stop on a dime is a luxury and is what this club can do!

What also shouldn’t be overlooked is Srixon’s new ZXi Hybrid. The reason this club has performed so well is because a lot of the technology in the driver and fairway wood has been included in the hybrid. Traditionally I have never had a great relationship with hybrids but like the 5-wood above I may have found one I could put in the bag. My shot pattern with this club was nothing short of great! It went straight and plenty long. Arguably again the most impressive component to the club was that I was hitting again towards the heal but that didn’t deter from performance.

In conclusion, Srixon’s latest range of drivers, fairway woods, and hybrids deliver on performance and innovation. The ZXi LS Driver stands out with its enhanced ball speed and distance, even on mishits, the fairway woods, offer versatility and power, making them a joy to hit in varying conditions, and finally, the ZXi Hybrid has proven itself to be a reliable and long-hitting option, even for those who may have struggled with hybrids in the past. Overall, Srixon has created a range that can confidently elevate any golfer’s game, making these clubs a must-try for anyone in the market for new gear..
