The once popular Deep Creek Golf Course 60 kilometres south-east of Melbourne is to be rebranded and given a facelift under the guidance of the Golf Services Management Pty Ltd (GSM).
It will also revert to its old name – the Pakenham Golf Course.
GSM has entered into a new management agreement with Cardinia Shire Council to reopen and manage the Pakenham Golf Course at Deep Creek Reserve.
The company said the council recognised GSM’s “commendable track record of reopening venues facing financial challenges and expressed its confidence in GSM’s capability to restore the golf course while establishing a sustainable business model for the venue.”
Ian Denny, Managing Director of GSM, said: “We are delighted to be working with Cardinia Shire Council and look forward to the challenge of reopening what we acknowledge to be a hub for the Cardinia Shire community.
“We believe the venue holds immense potential and we’re excited to introduce a range of initiatives in the coming months that will be valuable additions to the local community as well as to GSM’s extensive existing local customer base.”
Under GSM’s stewardship the golf course, which was previously known as Deep Creek Golf Club, will be rebranded as Pakenham Golf Course, a name which pays homage to the venue’s original naming convention.
Denny said the rebranding affirms the course’s seven-day-a week public access status and dispels any misconceptions that the venue is “private in nature.”
GSM will now embark on an extensive works program to restore the golf course and driving range to a playable standard after an extended closure period. Golf operations are expected to resume in phases which will include the reopening of the Deep Creek Reserve Eco Centre featuring a retail space, café, bistro, function rooms and shared spaces to be used by various Cardinia Shire community groups.
A comprehensive recruitment drive is now underway to establish a new team for the next chapter of the venue. A range of job opportunities, spanning golf operations, hospitality, and maintenance, are now listed on the newly launched Pakenham Golf Course website.
