BILOELA’S Golf Club Dylan Parish is on fire.
The Central Queensland golfer racked up another open title – the Yeppoon Men’s Open Championship – to go with wins at Baralaba, Gladstone, Gracemere, Town of 1770 and Rockhampton golf clubs this year.
Parish carded rounds of 72-67 for a 139 total to take out the 36-hole Yeppoon championship finishing two strokes ahead of first round leader Trevor Tougher (69-72).
Yeppoon Golf Club’s Jim Knuth won the newly introduced A2 grade event with a gross score of 159. He finished two shots clear of Philip Wode on (161).
Another local, Wesley Swaffield, captured the B grade title. He returned rounds of 77-86 (163) – one clear of runner-up Daniel Spyve from Baralaba Golf Club. In C grade, Yeppoon Golf Club’s Michael Johnson (185) was successful winning by a single shot over club-mate Bill Delforce (186).
Golf Central Queensland secretary Gurney Clamp said golf in the region was moving in the right direction.
“Most golf clubs are reporting an increase in the number of competitors teeing it up in their men’s opens,” he said.
“They even attracted over 160 competitors over the weekend.”
