IT started out as a “let’s see how the other half live” golfing exercise, and has turned into an annual extravaganza between four interstate golf clubs.
Members from Muirfield (NSW), Amstel (Vic), Tea Tree Gully (SA) and Nudgee (Qld) golf clubs have, for the past 48 years, met on a rotational basis to challenge each other to the noble game of golf.
The special bond between the clubs has seen many long-lasting friendships form over the years.
Well, it’s on again and everyone is invited to attend the 48th AMITEE Carnival to be played at Nudgee Golf Club in Brisbane from June 8-10.
The fun-filled event tees off on June 8 with the Calamitee Cup where the women play an 18-hole single stableford round for the Calamitee Cup (Combined Associates and Ladies Amitee).
The men can opt to play in Nudgee member’s competition, which is followed by a three-course dinner, dinner and entertainment.
On Saturday, June 9 it’s Amitee Cup day.
It starts with a breakfast and a bus trip for non-golfing partners.
The male attendees compete for the Amitee Cup (18 holes single stableford) while the women can opt to play in the Nudgee women’s competition.
Again, a three-course dinner dance and presentation follows.
A mixed event (shotgun start) has been organised for Sunday, June 10.
Dinner for all Amitee registrants is provided including entertainment, an hour of complimentary beverages and presentation of all the day’s trophies.
FOOTNOTE: The name AMITEE is derived from the four fully reciprocal interstate golf clubs that participate in the event: The A is taken from Amstel, the M from Muirfield, the I from Interstate, T from Tee Tree Gully and the EE from Nudgee.
