Performance54 is the group responsible for managing and promoting LIV Golf Adelaide.

Inside Golf caught up with their managing director in Australia, Nick Haslam, to hear about his role and Australia’s first LIV Golf experience.

Inside Golf: What can golf fans expect when LIV Golf comes to Adelaide?

Nick Haslam: Golf, but louder! We’re going to see world-class golfers – including Australia’s own Cam Smith, Marc Leishman, Matt Jones and Jed Morgan – go head-to-head in a high stakes weekend of shotgun starts, fan village fun and live music Après Golf by headline artists. Many players on LIV’s sensational roster will play on Australian soil for the first time ever at LIV Golf Adelaide; bringing elite golf to a previously starved market. It’s an innovative format – the brainchild of Australian golfing legend and LIV Golf CEO and Commissioner Greg Norman – that has seen golf become a team sport for the first time with 12 teams of star-studded players making up the field. It’s the sport’s answer to cricket’s IPL or Big Bash League. We are absolutely pumped.

IG: Will all the big-name players (major winners) turn up to play?

NH: Yes.

IG: How are ticket sales going?

NH: We have received an overwhelming response to the inaugural LIV Golf Adelaide, which is indicative of Australia’s longstanding love of the sport and how excited fans are for LIV Golf’s arrival in Australia. Ticket sales are very strong. All ground day passes (both single day and 3-day) are exhausted, while sales of our hospitality experiences have started well.

IG: Will the number of fans attending be capped daily?

NH: At this stage, 20,000 per day.

IG: How many hospitality tickets have been sold?

NH: As of right now (March 3), more than 7000. We’ve received huge amounts of interest in LIV Golf Adelaide’s Hospitality experiences from local South Australian fans as well as interstate and overseas spectators. LIV Golf Adelaide’s hospitality experiences will be the premier destination at the event, ranging from fine dining and silver service to relaxed lounges, and some of LIV Golf’s signature experiences that fans overseas have come to love.

IG: Aussies love a beer and a meat pie. Will they be well catered for?

NH: Yes.

IG: Is this (LIV Golf event) the biggest sporting event you have worked on?

NH: Yes.

IG: What were your previous roles in sport?

NH: GM Commercial & Strategy – North Melbourne Football Club; Chief Commercial Officer – Melbourne Storm; Director – Crest Sport & Entertainment.

IG: Are you a member of a club and, if so, where do you play your golf?

NH: I’m a member at Future Golf, but I play a bit at The Grange, Kooyonga and Victor Harbor GC.

IG: What’s your handicap?

NH: 21.5.

IG: Finally, will Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane golf fans get to experience a LIV Golf tournament in the future?

NH: The focus is on Adelaide at this point, but you never know!
