The ISPS HANDA World Super 6 Perth is set to continue its modernisation of golf in 2018 when it is played from 8-11 February at Lake Karrinyup Country Club in Perth, Western Australia.
With a mission to revolutionise world golf, the ISPS HANDA World Super 6 Perth was a success in its inaugural staging with local hero Brett Rumford triumphant.
In 2018 the ISPS HANDA World Super 6 Perth is set to again be a highlight on an impressive sporting schedule in Perth.
Tourism Western Australia’s Acting Executive Director Events Saskia Doherty said the State Government, through Tourism WA, was a proud sponsor of the ISPS HANDA World Super 6 Perth.
“The event’s new innovative format has attracted a huge amount of interest, generating an impressive global broadcast value of more than $20 million in our top 10 tourism markets,” Ms Doherty said.
“This provides fantastic exposure of our extraordinary State and Perth’s significant transformation to potential visitors around the world, helping drive visitation.
“In addition, the event provides a boost to the economy through players, support teams and spectators visiting Perth for the tournament.”
Following 12 months of review and preparations the second edition is set to showcase new features and excitement for fans.
“We were extremely happy with the inaugural staging of the ISPS HANDA World Super 6 Perth, it created a solid platform for us to grow the hybrid stroke play / match play concept,” said Gavin Kirkman, CEO of the PGA of Australia.
“The ISPS HANDA World Super 6 Perth has found a wonderful home at Lake Karrinyup but also in Perth whose sports fans have embraced our unique event.”
Tri-sanctioned again in 2018, the ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia, European Tour and Asian Tour have moved the date forward by a week making it friendlier to Australian golf fans.
“While we had a date clash with ISPS HANDA Women’s Australian Open this year, we have eliminated this in 2018 ensuring Australian golf fans can thoroughly enjoy two weeks of the world’s best being in action on our shores,” added Kirkman.
Equally pleased with the scheduling of the events is Dr Handa, who has thrown his support behind both tournaments with ISPS HANDA the naming rights partner of the ISPS HANDA World Super 6 Perth and ISPS HANDA Women’s Australian Open.

The ISPS HANDA World Super 6 Perth was the first of a number of format innovations the European Tour has introduced in 2017 emphasising the importance of entertainment.

The Asian Tour will again be a welcomed guest on Australian shores as it forms a stronger alignment with the ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia enhancing opportunities for professional golfers in the region.

The ISPS HANDA World Super 6 Perth will be played from 8-11 February 2018 at Lake Karrinyup Country Club in Perth, Western Australia.
About the ISPS HANDA World Super 6 Perth
Tthe ISPS HANDA World Super 6 Perth combines 54 holes of traditional stroke play across the first three days with an exciting knockout match play format for the fourth and final round.
A regular cut will fall after 36 holes before the field is then further reduced to the top-24 players following 54 holes of regulation play, with any ties for 24th place being decided by a play-off. Those remaining players will then earn their places in the six-hole shootout.
Any matches tied after the six holes will be decided by playing the new Shootout Hole – a purpose-built 90-metre hole constructed at Lake Karrinyup, with a tee placed adjacent to the 18th fairway and utilising the 18th green.
