Former US Open Champion Geoff Ogilvy will return to Australia to play the Perth International at Lake Karrinyup Country Club from 23 to 26 October.
The 37-year-old has had a strong year on the PGA TOUR, winning the Barracuda Championship earlier this month – his first TOUR win since 2010. He has eight PGA TOUR and four European Tour wins under his belt, including three World Golf Championships. Following his recent win in Reno, Ogilvy said he was looking forward to continuing his strong form in Perth.
“I’ve been putting in a lot of practice to get to my current form, and I’m hoping I can continue to play well over the next few months,” he said.
“I have a strong affiliation with Lake Karrinyup Country Club as my business partner, Mike Clayton, was responsible for remodelling the course layout in 2007. The course now has plenty of challenges, I’m sure Mike will be putting pressure on me to perform well!
“The last time I actually played in Perth was in 2000 for the Heineken Classic, so it’s been a long while since I visited the West. I’m looking forward to playing there again.”
Already announced to join Ogilvy for the tournament are 2013 US PGA Champion Jason Dufner, world number 22 Victor Dubuisson, five-time European Tour Champion Brett Rumford, defending Perth International champion Korean born Jin Jeong, and Australian Steven Bowditch who won his maiden PGA TOUR title in April at the Texas Open. Lake Karrinyup Country Club is widely acknowledged as Western Australia’s premier private golf club and has been regularly rated as one of the top ten golf courses in Australia.
Tickets for the Perth International start from $22 and are available now from Ticketmaster. Children under 16 will gain free entry with a paying adult.
The Perth International, now in its third year is owned and promoted by IMG. The event, is proudly supported by the Western Australian Government through Tourism WA, and is the only Australian tournament co-sanctioned by the European Tour and the PGA TOUR of Australasia
