Australian #1 and World #7 Adam Scott has confirmed that he will play in the 2012 Australian Masters to be played at Kingston Heath Golf Club from 15-18 November. he will be joined by 2010 US Open Champion (World #12) Graeme McDowell and the defending Champion Ian Poulter.
The Hon Minister for Sport and Recreation Hugh Delahunty welcomed the news and reiterated the Victorian Government’s support of major events commenting: “The Victorian Government is proud to support major events like the 2012 Australian Masters as they not only build on our State’s reputation as a major drawcard for the world’s best golfers but showcase Victoria to even more people around the globe. We are looking forward to welcoming the defending champion Ian Poulter, Adam Scott and Graeme McDowell to Melbourne and I encourage all Victorians to get along to Kingston Heath Golf Club in November.”
The fashionable and charismatic Ian Poulter became the second Englishman to win the gold jacket last year.
“I am delighted to return to Melbourne to defend my title. I thought Victoria Golf Club last year was an outstanding layout and I have heard a lot of great things about Kingston Heath. I am already looking forward to returning to the sandbelt,” said Ian.
Adam Scott has enjoyed another terrific year on the international stage.
“I’m delighted to be returning to play the Melbourne sand belt, and specifically the Australian Masters at Kingston Heath. It will be a great week and it’s fantastic to see top class International players like Poults and Graeme in the field. I’m sure we will see massive crowds and a fantastic tournament,” he said.
This marks Graeme McDowell’s first appearance at the Australian Masters and his first in Australia in seven years.
“It has been a while since I last played in Australia and I have been desperate to get back down there ever since! It’s such a beautiful country with great golf courses, great people and lovely weather. I am really looking forward to getting back down to Melbourne and playing on the sandbelt again,” said Graeme.

The Australian Masters will be sanctioned by the PGA Tour of Australasia and Brian Thorburn, CEO, remarked: “We are delighted to see the on-going success of the Australian Masters and on behalf of our members we extend our thanks to the Victorian Government and IMG for their continued commitment to Australian golf.”
Greg Norman remains the only player in the 33 year history of the Masters to successfully defend the title.
