Keen AFL supporters, especially Geelong fans, will never forget the 2005 semi-final when a young Nick Davis single-handedly ripped their hearts out, slotting four late goals to propel the Sydney Swans into the Grand Final—his last coming with just three seconds left. It was one of the greatest individual efforts in AFL history, setting up a Grand Final against the West Coast Eagles, a game that remains one of the most watched in the sport’s history. For the Swans, it ended a 72-year premiership drought.

After catching up with Nick Davis, you get the sense that if he were three down with four to play in a round of golf, he’d find a way to scrap, fight, and somehow get over the line. That never-quit mindset is ingrained in elite athletes. Golf, like footy, is all about resilience.

Davis is also an ambassador for The Longest Day, a charity initiative raising awareness and funds for cancer research.
